Choosing which moving permit best fits your needs depends on whether you have or have not paid California registration.
For example, If your vehicle was impounded, you can use a one day permit, if you are the registered owner on file with the California DMV and have up-to-date registration fees paid. If you are the registered owner on file with the California DMV, however do not wish to pay for your registration to be current, then you can use a one trip permit to legally drive your vehicle out of impound.
